STAGE AE in Pittsburgh -- great for all ages shows!!

Took my girls to an all-ages show at Stage AE last night …. my second time at this venue and it was another great experience. My girls absolutely adore Lindsey Stirling and when we heard she was coming back through Pittsburgh we just had to go! Her last stop here was completely sold out …. As it turns out, the last time she was here, she performed in the “Club” format at the AE …. Which holds about 400 guests. This time around, she was on the big stage and performed to just over 2,000!
The parking in the area is close and reasonable at $10. Both times I’ve been, it’s been a General Admission show, which means a looooong line out front until the doors open. We arrived at 6:30, expecting a 7pm show time and assuming the doors would open at 6:30. However, the doors only opened at 7, so that left us and hundreds of others out in the cold Pittsburgh air longer than we’d planned. Once the doors opened, the line moved fairly quickly. I was happy to see that with all those in line, the place wasn’t so packed you couldn’t move …. In fact, it still felt roomy. The restrooms were very clean …. The pricing for drinks and snacks was very reasonable. A Blue Moon was 6.25 and a coke was 1.75 … bottled water was 3. We also snacked on a healthy sized portion of cheese nachos from the snack bar. I wouldn’t recommend trying to bring in your own drinks, they pat your down and look in your purse and were seen confiscating on several occasions. With the reasonable pricing, there really is no need. They actually have a full bar of beverages, including mixed drinks and wine. The bartenders were fabulous … attentive and quick!
If you are headed to one of these all ages shows with the kids, there is a great lounge area open for those that don’t want to watch the show. There aren’t many seating spots, a few hightop bar tables with stools, but you have to be in line early to snag those. We found a great spot up in the balcony, just behind the private box seats, a great place to hang our coats and lean on the railings, also a little less crowded than the floor level.
I would definitely attend another event at Stage AE – and would love to catch a show in the summer at their outdoor arena area! Don’t be afraid to take the littler ones to the all ages shows …. They really enjoyed their first “concert” experience!
