Last night we loaded up the kids and took a ride over to Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in Imperial. A native of Pittsburgh, I can’t believe I’ve never been to this family owned and operated track just 10 miles from the city. I have to say, they had me at the ROAR of those Super Late Model engines! I’m telling you, it doesn’t get any more American than a night at PPMS! Their ½ mile dirt track is sponsor to a variety of races, including PPMS Outlaw Sprints, BRP Big Block Modifides and ARDC Midgets and even Monster Trucks (coming this fall!)
The night started off with warm-ups and the kids had time to play in the play area before we headed in to grab a seat. The events were all leading up to the big event races at the end of the night. Racing typically wraps up around 10pm, with lots of excitement in between. We were intrigued to watch the Young Gun races with just 13 and 14 year old drivers – and my personal favorite was the Super Late Model races. The night we were there, they also featured the Midwest All Star 410 Sprints, so it was a big night to be a part of! Let’s just say, I’ve learned a lot about racing lingo, can you tell!?
I learned so much and had so much fun that we wanted to offer this fun to ALL Pittsburgh area families!
